The Priority Of Our Project

🌿 Project Title: From your balcony to the green future
🌍 Background
Global warming has led to a decrease in plant diversity across Europe. Our project aims to address this issue by empowering adults to grow plants on their balconies, thereby supporting urban greening and sustainable living.

🎯 Project Goals
🌱 Teach adults how to grow plants on their balconies.
Adults will learn about essential gardening equipment and how to produce some of it using recyclable waste.
♻️ Promote sustainable practices through waste reuse.
Adults will be trained to create natural fertilizers from fruit, vegetable, and organic waste to nourish their balcony plants.
🏡 Optimize balconies for energy efficiency and productivity.
We’ll help design balcony spaces suited to different climate conditions, maximizing their ecological and economic benefits for households.
📘 Create a digital guidebook.
A comprehensive e-book will explain how to make plant-growing equipment and fertilizer from waste and how to design energy-efficient balconies. This digital resource will foster learning across generations.
📢 Disseminate project results through multiplier events.
Events will raise awareness among educators and stakeholders across Europe. Our results will be shared via national and international networks, websites, social media, and the EPALE platform to ensure long-term impact.

🌿 Key Priorities
Adult education & skill development
Waste reduction & circular economy
Climate change awareness & mitigation
Intergenerational knowledge transfer
Sustainable urban gardening

🎯 Target Groups of the Project
👥 ADULTS
Unemployed and Low-Income Adults in Developing Countries
Adults struggling with unemployment or working for low wages will be empowered to grow fruits and vegetables on their balconies, supporting the family budget and making productive use of their free time.
Mothers at Home
Women who spend most of their time caring for children often experience social isolation. This project aims to engage these women through sustainable gardening activities, helping them develop skills, connect with others, and contribute to the fight against global warming.
Disadvantaged Groups
Including persons with impairments, immigrants, and refugees. The project will offer opportunities for social inclusion and environmental contribution by teaching sustainable practices like waste reuse and balcony farming.

🎓 EDUCATORS
Adult Education Professionals
Educators who are active in adult learning and are concerned about the impacts of climate change are a key target group. They will gain tools and knowledge to teach adults about:
Balcony gardening
Producing fertilizer from organic waste
Designing energy-efficient growing spaces
These educators will act as multipliers, helping transfer sustainable practices to current and future generations.

🏫 ADULT EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS
Institutions involved in adult education will benefit from increased capacity and improved teaching quality on climate-related topics.
The project will enhance their role in addressing social, economic, and environmental challenges across Europe.
By supporting educators within these institutions, we aim to establish long-term institutional impact on climate education.

🏛️ OTHER ORGANIZATIONS & INSTITUTIONS
NGOs, municipalities, foundations, and public institutions working on climate change are also key stakeholders.
Through dissemination activities, these institutions will be engaged and encouraged to take action, even if they have not previously worked on environmental issues.
The project will foster collaborations that promote sustainability and inspire new initiatives for climate action.

What Our Participants Say

Watching young people transform their balconies into lush, sustainable gardens has been one of the most inspiring experiences of my career. This project shows how small actions can lead to meaningful change.

Maria Hadjielia Drotarova

Coordinator of Project

Balcony gardening is no longer a trend—it’s a necessity. We are proud to support a project that empowers citizens to contribute to climate action from their homes.

Ramazan Akkurt

Manager of Adult Education Center

Before joining this project, I had never grown anything in my life. Now my balcony is full of tomatoes, basil, and even strawberries! It’s been life-changing.

Mladen Blatnik

Participants

I realized how much food waste I was creating. With what I’ve learned, I now compost and grow my own herbs. It feels great to contribute to something bigger than myself.
